Awesome! Maybe that was the stress in the back of my mind. I filed for my last unemployment payment this past Sunday. 26 weeks of unemployment exhausted. I received a letter stating that I qualify for up to 20 more weeks under EUC. So I just called and spent 30 minutes on hold to speak to someone. I have to say today's case worker was probably the nicest woman I have ever dealt with in the few times I have dealt with social services or unemployment folks. I was approved and will not miss any payments once I start filing my webcerts this Sunday. My benefits aren't changing so I can breathe easy until I can get myself out of this state and into a work camping position for the summer.
Can't come at a better time since I'm moving out of the house tomorrow (since it looks like the sheriff won't be here today). Who knows maybe I'll wait tomorrow and see if they show up?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, chickens sacrificed at regular intervals, rubbing the rabbits foot (mostly because I like it), and the usual host of offerings so that things go smoothly for you. I'm just sayin.
ReplyDeleteSteve, you're awesome. (Just in case no one has told you lately)
ReplyDeleteAh, the EUC, I've been on it 3 times now, usually because it takes about a month or two after the obligatory 6 month waiting period is over for an Intel contract to get a new one started.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I don't know if it works the same as it does here in Oregon, but here, if you leave the state for any reason without notifying them employment office, they can cancel your benefits and demand repayment for certain weeks if you don't go through the proper channels.
ReplyDeleteYou may need to look into all the regulations pertaining to residency and location and benefits.
I asked about moving out of state while I was on the phone yesterday. She said all I need to do is update my address with them and register with the One Stop Career Center in my new town. I plan on using a Mailbox Ect here in MD as my mailing address so I don't think any of it is going to be an issue.
